Redefining barre fitness with bespoke studio workouts

A warm welcome and thank you for taking the time to explore the world of barre fitness and what our workouts could do for your health and wellbeing.

With a range of workouts to suit all experiences and fitness levels, we have worked with hundreds of people to help them achieve their fitness goals. Our timetable includes a range of classes and workouts to suit all abilities.

From beginners through to advanced we have routines to suit everyone with a range of durations and intensities so you can build up your strength and fitness at your desired pace.

NO GIMMICKS OR FUSIONS

Our principles and movements are based entirely on traditional ballet techniques, promising a full workout that intelligently exercises your body.

YOU DON'T NEED TO BE A DANCER

You don’t need to have taken ballet classes to benefit from the sessions – and we do not believe in stereotypes. Everyone can benefit from our barre fitness programme.

YOU CAN LEARN AT YOUR OWN PACE

Our exercises are adaptable to suit your needs. Whether you are a beginner or coming back after an injury, you’ll be able to workout in a way that is suitable for you.

My vocation began in South Africa where I trained extensively as a dancer before travelling across the US, Canada, and the UK, gaining a wealth of experience from performing, touring and teaching.

Being a performer is incredibly tough, not just physically but mentally as well.  I understand how operating in high pressured environments can have an impact on wellbeing, and so I always look to provide an outlet in my workouts – whether that’s working up a sweat or relaxing with stretching and posture correction. 

Going on to teach internationally following retirement from performing, I spent a number of years working on some amazing grass roots projects, introducing ballet to children in deprived areas; rewarding work that helped me develop many techniques to promote inclusion.

Ballet Contours offers a full body workouts to adults looking for low impact, high intensity fitness classes at the ballet barre. Suitable for both men and women, B Contours gives expert advice and guidance to make our online barre workouts safe for beginners through to the more advanced dancer. Ballet Contours founder, Heather, giving anatomical corrections on arm placement to build strength in upper arms, shoulder girdle and back.

THE INCEPTION OF BALLET CONTOURS' FITNESS PROGRAMME

After taking a break to look after my daughter, whose special educational needs were becoming increasingly apparent, I decided to embark upon creating a unique programme of ballet-based workouts for adults.  Knowing first-hand the importance of combining physical fitness with mindfulness, especially when finding time for yourself seems impossible, my programme has been specifically designed to support the overall health and wellbeing of all participants through a progressive set of barre workouts, where the movements, use of breath, delivery and music are all of equal importance in helping you to achieve your goals for both body and mind. 
 
All of our sessions are fully insured and with over 25 years of teaching experience, you can be confident that your workout has been designed to ensure expert tuition, providing ethical and professional guidance to promote safe practices.
